- Worked in the internal IT organisation that supports Van Genechten Packaging Group across private cloud, application platforms, and factory-related technical environments.
Responsibilities
- Support and automate private cloud and application platform environments, including virtual machines, host servers, SSL certificates, deployment support, and environment configuration.
- Maintain operational tooling using Ansible, Bash, Python, Jenkins pipelines, and systemd-based services.
- Support platform and container-related environments involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, CEPH, and Linux systems.
- Contribute to GitLab administration, technical documentation, monitoring automation, and handover material.
Key tasks
- Developed and automated recurring operational tasks, including OOP Python scripts, Bash scripts, backup-related services, recovery-support tooling, monitoring agents, and infrastructure checks.
- Worked with Jenkins and Java/Groovy-based pipeline logic for CI/CD-related workflows.
- Supported backend-oriented monitoring by helping automate SNMP and Elastic Agent setups through Ansible.
- Assisted with IoT-related work, including support, debugging, and technical involvement with Smartbox devices used in factory environments.
Technical scope
- Worked with Linux servers, OpenShift/Kubernetes hosts, iDRAC, physical server setup, cabling, virtual machines, and infrastructure automation.
- Used Ansible extensively to automate configuration, deployment, monitoring setup, service management, and recurring operational work across multiple systems.
- Supported infrastructure and automation around business-critical application environments, including WildFly-based runtime environments.
- Used scripting and configuration management to make operational work more repeatable, maintainable, and easier to hand over.
